Dong S. KimDong S. Kim

Dong S. Kim is President of PV Business Development, SK Innovation. He has extensive experiences in managing R&D and Engineering activities. He served as the President of Global Technology and CTO at SK Innovation since 2009. He led the development of technologies to maintain a competitive advantage in various areas, including refining, petro-chemical, lubricant and E&P, and new R&D activities for a sustainable future. Many new R&D projects were launched and commercialized during his tenure. He also introduced the Research and Business Development + Engineering (R&BD+E) program to reduce the cycle time from R&D output to engineering construction. He led the early development of the Li-ion battery business and I/E materials business for SK. He also serves as a board member of two other Venture companies.

Before joining SK Innovation, Dong S. Kim has been with Royal Dutch Shell for 19 years in various positions as a leadership and as a researcher including research engineer, team leader, technical advisor, and Asia-Pacific Engineering regional manager. During his employment, he has worked on and led various assignments related to mechanical integrity and reliability of plants, sub-sea systems, offshore structures, and unconventional oil including oil shale and oil sand, He managed a global reliability and integrity team which handles the reliability, safety, and mechanical integrity of equipment in many different fields including Offshore, Onshore, Gas plant, Refining, Chemical, Catalyst, Bio, GTL and Wind energy. He served as Chairman of two API sub-committees. Since 2010, he has served as a member of the Technology Sub-Committee for the Korea National Economic Council.

Prior to joining Shell he taught at Yeungnam University in Korea as an Assistant Professor. He also taught at the Ohio State University. Currently, he serves as adjunct professor for both the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and Seoul National University.


Henri ArifHenri Arif, Senior Member, Credit Suisse
Henri Arif is a senior member of the Renewable Energy team for the Customized Fund Investment Group (CFIG) at Credit Suisse, leading investments in the sector, overseeing the existing portfolio companies, and holding seats on several boards within that portfolio.

Prior to his work with CFIG, Henri was the Managing Director and founder of Edge Chemicals LLC, a physical commodities NY based trading firm, where he quickly developed an international trading activity in Ethanol and Biodiesel starting in 2001. Prior to that and for over 10 years, he was an executive board member and senior manager at a private family holding company with activities in the Chemical and Petrochemical manufacturing industry, after having held specific positions at the operational and commercial levels of the business.Henri started his career at IBM in France and holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering and an M.S. in Operations Management from Boston University.


Tim CostelloTim Costello, CEO, Builder Homesite, Inc.
As the CEO of Builder Homesite, Mr. Costello leads a consortium of more than 36 American homebuilders representing more than 275,000 new homes and $60 billion in revenue. BHI was founded to provide affordable and scalable technology solutions to the homebuilding industry. Mr. Costello also co-founded Greenlight LLC, a service provider that enables builders to easily adopt and implement green building practices, including solar system installations. Prior to BHI, he was Vice President, Global Operations at Applied Materials (AMAT), the world's leading manufacturer of semiconductor capital equipment. In this role, he was responsible for analyzing the global manufacturing value stream and the strategic direction of technical programs aimed at driving efficiencies. He received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University.


Perry HaPerry Ha, Managing Director
Perry Ha is the founder of DFJ Athena, a Draper Fisher Jurvetson affiliate venture fund focused on investments in Korea and the US. He has been an active investor since 1998 when he founded Athena Technology Ventures, a Silicon Valley based venture capital fund with a focus on early-stage startups. He has invested in and/or served on the board of many successful companies including Ipivot (INTC), Demandtec (DMAN), Imparto Software (PKS), ProfitLogic (ORCL), and Zantaz (AUTNF). He also served as an interim CEO at two different companies. He currently serves on the board of several companies in Korea and the US. Prior to venture capital, he led the Technology Management Practice at Gemini Consulting, a global management consultancy, helping Fortune 1000 clients manage technology portfolios and develop new products.

Prior to that, he managed an R&D Group at Amicon, a life science devices company, which was successfully sold to Milipore in 1994. He was granted two patents during his tenure at Amicon. He serves on the board of Korean American Society of Entrepreneurs (KASE), on the Visiting Committee at MIT, and on the Leadership Board of MIT's McGovern Institute for Brain Research. He earned B.S. and M.S. degrees from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. He was the captain of his collegiate volleyball team and was selected to NCAA All-American Third Team. He is a life-long student and teacher of Tae Kwon Do, a Korean martial art of which he is a certified Master Instructor.


June Soo LeeJune Soo Lee, Senior Vice President of SK Innovation

June Soo Lee is a senior vice president of SK Innovation and as of 2013, he was appointed as the head of Global Technology Strategy & Planning Division. He has been with SK since 1989 as a leader of new business development division and head of technology strategy & planning office and battery R&D; Center of SK Innovation. He also led business division and lithium battery business at SK Mobile Energy and SKC, respectively. June Soo Lee holds M.S. and Ph.D in Chemical Engineering from Stanford University, USA, and B.S. from Seoul National University, Korea.


Arno PenziasArno Penzias, Venture Partner, NEA
Arno Penzias joined New Enterprise Associates ("NEA") in 1997 as a Venture Partner from Bell Labs, where he headed its research organization and served as its Chief Scientist. Arno is currently on the Board of HelioVolt and Terrajoule and serves as technical adviser, as needed, for a number of NEA companies, including: Bloom Energy, HelioVolt, Hillcrest Laboratories, Solar Junction, SolFocus, Spreadtrum Communications, Telegent Systems and Tri Alpha Energy. He has written two books and a number of articles on science and technology, especially their impact on business and society. A member of both the National Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Engineering, he received a BS from City College of New York and a PhD from Columbia University. His awards include a number of honorary degrees, as well as other awards, for his contributions to science, R&D management and public service - most notably the 1978 Nobel Prize in Physics for his work in radio astronomy.


B.J. StanberyDr. B.J. Stanbery, Chief Science Officer
Dr. B.J. Stanbery has an illustrious career spanning more than 30 years in the solar industry. He is an expert in the business and science of photovoltaics (PV). In 2008, his innovation of inkjet printing of CIGS, won a prestigious 2008 R&D 100 Award. He founded HelioVolt to develop and commercialize a revolutionary FASST® process for manufacturing CIGS thin-film PV that is now covered by 11 patents issued, 9 additional patent applications, and 83 international extensions. Prior to founding HelioVolt, Dr. Stanbery managed Boeing's terrestrial PV program. During that 17-year tenure his team manufactured and deployed PV for spacecraft, and in 1990 achieved the world record in multi-junction thin-film PV conversion efficiency. Dr. Stanbery completed his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering in 2001 at the University of Florida, having previously obtained an M.S. in Physics from the University of Washington and B.S. in both Physics and Mathematics from the University of Texas. Dr. Stanbery also serves on the Board of the Texas Renewable Energy Association (TREIA), and as Chairman of the Board of the Texas Foundation for Innovative Communities (TFIC).
