Austin Mayor Will Wynn cuts the ribbon at the dedication of HelioVolt Corporation's new Austin facility

Austin mayor Will Wynn (right) cuts the ribbon at the dedication of HelioVolt Corporation's new Austin facility with HelioVolt CEO BJ Stanberry (left). HelioVolt is an Austin based company formed in 2001 to commercialize a new technology for manufacturing thin film photovoltaic solar power cells from an alloy called "Copper Indium Gallium Selenide", which is the best material to replace the costly crystalline silicon used in 90%+ of solar power modules sold today. Dr. Stanbery, an alumnus of UT Austin, is the world's foremost expert on this material and the inventor of HelioVolt's manufacturing technology.

Mayor Wynn speaks about Austin's renewable energy future to an audience of HelioVolt Corporation employees, suppliers, solar advocates, and UT Solar Decathlon team members.
